Free-Write: Out of jail

Free-Write: Out of jail

You leave prison after twenty years. You were innocent. The world as you knew it has changed. What’s the first thing you would do?

I would be lying if I said I am not angry, mad. I said it loud and clear, screamed and created a scene, tried my level best to imprint it into their brains that I was INNOCENT, but, they didn’t believe. No one believed me. And now, after twenty years, they declare, “oh, we made a mistake, you didn’t commit the crime”, like it’s no big deal. Like 20 years of my life was just a few minute spent. Like the scars on my back and neck trying to fight off these jail predators was child’s play.

They didn’t even let me hold my baby after 9 gruesome months. They didn’t even… Even a single glance was denied to me. Where do I begin? In search of the murderer who framed me for the death of my husband, or do i search for the child I bore in jail who doesn’t even know who his mama is.

But I’m out now, that’s a start. Two choices, neither easy, heaven help my soul. I feel like a stranger in the world. A world I knew and love. My child lived without me for twenty years, he’d survive without me for a little longer. I have to this for his father. I have to find the murderer of my son’s father. My twenty years in jail would not be in vain.

This is a battle I have to win, and I will win.

Times up! (10 mins) I hope this story makes senses because it was all I could come up with in ten minutes. This challenge was forwarded to me by Juliet of Juliet’s journal. Thank you so much for the nomination and I had fun doing it.

The Free Writing Challenge is fun to do and it keeps the creative flow in momentum. I like to keep it as an open challenge for anyone interested to take part in. There is a topic provided for you at the end of this post.

If you wish to participate, these are the rules:

Open your word processor, e.g. Ms Word (for Windows OS users)

1. Time yourself using a stopwatch or mobile. Anywhere ranging from 5-10 minutes, or more if you’re up for it.

2. Your topic is at the bottom of this post.

3. Filll in the doc with as many words as you like. Once you begin writing, do not stop until the time is up. You can either write poem or paragraph.

4. Don’t use spellcheck. You need not worry about spelling or grammar errors. The aim is for you to reflect on your own control of sensible thought flow and ability to write the right spelling, all the while sticking to grammar rules.

5. You may or may not pay attention to punctuation and capitals. However, if you do, that would be best.

6. At the end of your post, write down the number of words = so that we would have an idea of how much you can write within that timeframe.

7. Do not forget to copy and paste the entire passage on your blog post, with a new topic for your nominees, at least 5 of them, as well as copying and pasting these rules.

Here are my nominees:

Joy Roses
Sweety Kannoth
Cold chicken soup
A fairy mind
Nature lover

Here is the topic for my nominees and anyone else who’ll love to participate: write a post on this phrase… “That was the moment I knew”.

  1. This was great! You let it be known about your anger, yet you are doing the most sensible thing…starting to start putting your life back together with finding out who took it …and your husband’s, and then trying to contact your child. Hopefully things will work out and the remainder of your life will be spent without the “who did it” question weighing you down. Well done…I would of had a real hard time controlling my pent up anger!
