I said a prayer-

I said a prayer-

IMG_0252.JPG

I said a prayer today,
And it went something like this-
Dear Lord,
(With my head on the ground),
Please grant me empathy.

I said a prayer today
I never thought I would say,
Not the praying part of course,
Just that prayer in particular;
For- cynicism and hatred,
Were not in my nature,
(I thought),
But then I grew up and

said a prayer today,
For the world is changing,
And the world has changed me,
And the dreamer within
Is dying-
Like the trees, the earth, the sea
And its beings.
Dear Lord grant me empathy
For cynicism is overtaking.

I said a prayer today,
For the world is bleeding
And I am bleeding with it.

They’d tell you they’re sorry,
While you stare at the floor;
Wondering how on earth,
A part of you is now gone;
Their words sound so foreign,
Till your love’s name comes up;
Every mention- a drill,
Burning a hole in your heart,

They’d tell you they’re sorry,
And you wonder what for-
It wasn’t their fault,
Heck it wasn’t anyone;
You envision them strolling to
The arms of their love;
Looking down through welled eyes,
At the emptiness of yours.

They’d tell you they’re sorry,
And that they understand,
But you know they cannot fathom
The loss you incurred,
So you nod as they murmur
Words, meant to comfort-
Praying to God, he Is at much
Much more peace, than you are.

As close as it gets-

As close as it gets-

For some,
It takes the form of,
a cup of black coffee,
Drowning in its scintillating,
Effect.
Knowing,
Without a doubt,
Today will be okay.

The act of,
Staring at the face,
Looking back from the glass,
And re-affirming the statement,
Today, I can.

For some,
It takes-
a little more tears,
A lot more prayer,
An occasional day off,
To feel slightly better.

And sometimes,
Putting on a mask,
Which looks like a smiley,
And says the words “I’m fine”,
Is as close as it gets.

Nature’s Embrace-

Nature’s Embrace-

image

For her luxury is the sight,
Of a cloudless sky;
Golden rays streaming,
Unfiltered, through cracks.

It’s the crowing of hens,
At the first string of light,
And the tune- of mocking birds,
Singing their hearts.

It’s the softness of wool,
On the skin of her Lambs;
Radiating, “we’re here for you”,
Entwined in her arms.

Luxury is her knees,
In friction with the ground;
With her forehead in prostrate,
As she speaks- to her Lord.

Luxury is the wind,
Sweeping across her face;
With her feet in the grass,
In nature’s sweet embrace.

The man I couldn’t keep-

The man I couldn’t keep-

image

It started with a joke
And you laughed,
It wasn’t funny
Still you Laughed,
And I knew
I had got you,
You were mine to keep,
Our children
Would carry your genes.
Our children…
I sigh,
How I envisioned a future
I had little control over,
But you knew.
Oh you knew
Of the finite time in your sand-clock,
Grain by grain..
But I had told daddy about you-
About the man with
Cerulean eyes,
And deep set brows,
About the man who drove at a snail’s
Pace,
About the man who’d father his
Grandchildren,
About the man who
Worshipped his Lord
Five times
Five unfailing times daily,
About the man I thought I could keep
Till the sun rose from the west
Till the trumpet blew
Till I am buried under deep…
I had told daddy all about you.

But the abnormal cells won
Here we are-
I joke,
No one to laugh.
I Stand
You’re buried under deep
Reality seems like a nightmare
But I pray
I pray to the Lord you worship
Worshipped
The man I thought I could keep
Is at peace.

A poem for the Broken-

A poem for the Broken-

350px-You_re_not_alone_by_saper505-d4epxfy

If you’ve been broken,
Or you’ve been bent;
Heart’s been crumpled,
Wept as you bled;
This poem’s for you,
So wipe those tears;
You’re not alone-
‘Cause now I’m here.

This place you’re at,
I’ve been there too;
Filled with hopelessness,
No reason to continue;
But I Made it out,
And so can you;
It won’t be easy,
But, we’ll make it through.

And so I pray,
To God above-
To ease your pain;
And clear the way;
And when dusk comes,
And you feel the ache,
I need you to remember-
The sun will rise again.

When All Odds Fail…

When All Odds Fail…

Forgive me dear Lord,
For I have sinned;
Mistook your guidance
And fell in too deep;
Went with my wrong judgement
Now I clearly see-
You kept me away
For my own benefit…
Was too stubborn to see.

Now, my head laid down
I call out to thee-
Please hear my Cries
And help me free;
This world is too much,
For the soul underneath-
Help me see light,
Send me please calmth;
Thank you my lord-
For not forsaking me.
