Blogger Q and A

Blogger Q and A

IMG_0377.JPG

The lovely blogger at Accidentally inked nominated me for an award. I honestly don’t do them anymore, but I loved the questions she put forth. And anyway its been a long time since I did one of these so I thought, I’ll give a shot.

What’s the best thing you like about your blog?

Ohhh lets see. I actually love everything. The fiction because I never thought I could actually do one of those “flash fictions” and now, I look forward to writing them; certainly pushed me out of my comfort zone.
The poetry because writing them have been such comfort and therapy at the same time. And the writer’s quote/poem because it gives me the opportunity to share with all of you, the reason why I fell in love with poetry.

What do you tell yourself to convince yourself so that you stay positive when something bad happens?

Honestly- I try to remember that everything happens for a reason and things could have been worse.

Do you like books? If yes, what did you last read?

I Love books, but then again I am a picky reader. I tend to stick to the same kind of genres. Don’t judge me, I’ve branched out but I just don’t enjoy them and i’ld rather not read what I don’t enjoy.
I’m currently reading a book by David Baldacci- The escape. It is the 3rd book in a John Puller series.

Do you think it’s okay to be scared of cats?

Hahaha, I am one of them. Of course its not okay to be scared of cats but thats why they are called “phobias”. They are irrational fears after all.

What do you say, lets get to know one another? I am throwing these questions to anyone/everyone who reads this:
1) Coffee or Tea
2) summer or winter
3) Vanilla or chocolate
4) crime novel or Romance novel
5) Documentary or movie

You can answer in the comments below or in a new post. Lets do this 👊🏽

I am who you think I am and who you think I am not. I am a chest of secrecy and a cloak of openness. I am the strict parent and the fun-loving one. Yes, adrenaline courses through my blood and yes, I need caffeine to go through the day.

I am the spontaneous friend and the sensible one. The burger binger and the salad encourager. The lens wearer and the makeup lover. The football junkie and the pink stiletto owner.

I am who you know me to be, and who you’d never imagine of me. A hopeful dreamer and soulful realist. A traditional home-maker and modern go-getter. A day time hustler and nighttime writer. An avid talker and a silent listener. A couch lover and a crowd speaker.

I am who I am and despite what you may Want, I’ll always be who you’ll Need me to be.

The Pokemon Go book tag

The Pokemon Go book tag

Yesterday, I came across a fun Pokemon Go book tag on TheJouskaBlog which was originally created by Read at midnight and thought I’d try it out too. So Here goes:

Hands down, To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee. I’ve read this book multiple times and with every read, I fall more in love with the story and the characters as well.

Six seconds by Rick Mofina. This is the first Rick Mofina book I could not finish reading.

No book comes to mind at the moment, who knows, maybe I’ll remember later .

This one is easy- All the lights we cannot see by Anthony Doer. It’s been sitting on my shelf for over a year now.

There are quite a few actually. But one of my favourite is Three by Ted Dekker. If you are looking for a psychological thriller, then I recommend this book. You won’t be disappointed.

So, I had to google “OTP” to find out its meaning. Apparently, it means “one true pairing”. I don’t believ I have one.

Ohhhh Seige by Simon Kernick. This book is on fire!

Enid Blyton’s Malory Towers and st Clare’s . Also, Regan Reilly Mysteries by Carol Higgins Clark

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Even though this book was published in 1818, I only read it a few months ago. Needless to say, I Absolutely loved it and would not mind reading it all over again.

That would be none.

Malory towers and st Clare’s by Enid Blyton.

Well, not forever, but I am excited for the realease of the 3rd book in David Baldacci’s Amos Decker series. The first two are- The Last mile and Memory Man and they were simply awesome.

Mary Higgins Clark, I don’t believe any of her books disappoint and also, Simon Kernick.

On a side note, I don’t really have an idea as to what this Pokemon Go game is about?! (Tell me I’m not the only one living under a rock). And, That’s it, my book tag answers. Take up the questions if you’d love to, I’ll be looking forward to reading your answers.

Why the forlorn face?” Inquired Adolf, the loved-up cow.

Well“, began Amber, the flowered cow. “It’s just that everyone’s hovering around you and admiring your intricately designed flowers and hearts.

I could say the same about you Amber“, Protested Adolf “and You look lovely all flowered up”.

Amber being one not to give up, continued, “but that’s Just it. I might look lovely but you look stunning. Heck, you even have a little peace inscribed on your ear“.

She pouted while Adolf sighed, thinking to himself that Amber could be tough at times. Just then, some kids came towards them screaming,
“Look! That one painted with hearts looks like a Piñata”

Quickly, the rest of the gang grabbed a stick each and headed for Poor Adolf. Amber chuckled like anything, saying
   “on a second thought, I like my flowers”.

LIVING THE DREAM

Over at Hargun's

Sat Sri Akal! A warm welcome to all you this chilly winter evening. OAH is finally back  and it’s a girls’ day out this time.

We all in the blogging world know a person through their blog or the interaction with them in the comments section. But many times we form a bond with these people, we often look forward to seeing them in the blogging world and then we realize we have found a great friend! Or else, there may be personalities whose works are a big inspiration to you. Though virtual, these friendships and fan followings are real. And so here’s OAH, where we more than just meet and greet a fellow blogger, we see some unknown aspects of their life and we have loads of fun doing that!

Now, I hope you all are tucked tight in the blankets because if you are not, you just might…

Flash Fiction: For a moment…

Flash Fiction: For a moment…

For a while, her ear drums were selectively deaf to the sound of motor tires grazing the gravel roads and the incessant honking by impatient drivers. She watched at a depressing angle, focusing her gaze on the crowd of teenagers playing away their worries. Their worn leather ball being tackled swiftly across the field and red soil swirling above their ankles with each pass.

Their black and coffee colored skins glistened with sweat under the summer sun. She grinned to herself as a bunch of them tried to wipe the salty water streaming down their foreheads while at the same time keeping the ball in check- an act they failed at.

A Black-headed Gull flew past her 3rd floor window, distracting the view in front of her. How easy it was to get carried away by hopeless wishing. She gazed around at the emptiness of her home and said a silent prayer on the kids who unknowingly put a smile on her widowed face every evening.
It was time to shut herself once again to the rest of the world.

Ballad: Bailey’s Son

Ballad: Bailey’s Son

image

Galavanting down the stairs in white,
The toll bell’s ringing- bride has arrived;
Bedecked in jewels from head to toe,
The lady in white with her train in tow.

The crowd goes ooh and the crowd goes ah,
Their perfect prince had found a wife;
The single maidens envy the bride,
While the streets of Bailey, rejoice and dance.

The priest stood waiting on the altar stand,
The bride’s eyes searching her beloved’s whereabout;
Silence drowning the energy and high,
A groom gone missing- cause for alarm.

Found laying still in a brothel house,
The Perfect groom with a secret life;
An image misconstrued on views and lies,
Prince charming departs not in the arm of his bride.

And years went by, and the bride moved on;
The town stood still for a while, distraught;
The envious envied the bride no more-
And Bailey learnt prefect was but a relative term.

Day 21 of October Poetry Writing  month. I’m trying to catchup on the prompts I missed. Today’s poetry type is Ballad. Just click on the word for more details on balladic style.

If Magic was real-

If Magic was real-

image

If Rumple was here,
I’ll weave him a story;
In exchange for love,
I’d make him a sweet deal.

If Frankenstein came,
And Made an appearance;
I’d trade him that love-
So he knows what “to feel” means.

If Elsa were here,
I’ll steal her for a moment;
Whisper in her ears-
You’re perfect, snow queen.

If Mulan appeared
In my front, I’d trade places-
To be on the frontline,
Of what I believe in.

If magic were real,
I’d be queen of a castle-
With a Soul young at heart,
And create my happy after.

Day 4 of October Poetry Writing Month. And yup, I am way behind but still not going to quit. The prompt was: take the time to write a poem featuring magic; Have fun with it. I certainly had fun writing this, it was a nice break from dark, or heart break genres 😉 IMAGE CREDIT: Kiloby.com

Sisterhood of the World

Sisterhood of the World

image

I got nominated again for the sisterhood of the world bloggers award by “ColdChickenSoup” and she posed some really fun and unexpected questions. Thank you so much for this nomination and I’m glad our paths have crossed even if it’s on the blogosphere- here are my answers:

1. What is that one movie that you can’t get enough of?
Ahhh, I’ve got loads of them. But if I have to choose five, it’d be- Inception, Now you see me, chak de India, Fast 5, 3 idiots.

2. Who is/are your favorite person/peeps?
My family. I know it sounds cheesy but when I’m with family, nothing else matters. And friends that become family too.

3. Beauty or brains?
If you mean which I prefer, I’d say brains. Beauty is awesome for the first few moments, but brains leave a lasting impression. So beauty fades, brains remain.

4. What are the characteristics of your ideal man?
Hahaha, I wasn’t expecting this question at all. Well let’s put it this way- if I knew my characteristics of my ideal man, trust me I wouldn’t be single, would have grabbed him by the horns.

5. What is your favorite quote and why?
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view- until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.”– this is one of the quotes that help me in my day to day life. It’s a constant reminder for whenever I am tempted to judge a person.

6. What was your family like growing up?
From what i’ve been told, my family had a pretty smooth life with two “very obedient and quiet” kids until I came along. Growing up was fun. If it wasn’t, honestly, I wouldn’t know because as a kid, I remember making the most of very moment- I lived in a bubble.

7. What’s it like when you had the best date of your life?
I’m going to save this space up for when that happens.

8. If you’re a student what do you study (course)?
I’m in my 4th year studying medicine.

9. What is your favorite flower?
I am not well versed in flowery to have a favorite, but I do love roses.

10. Do you agree that love is blind? Why or why not?
I think falling in love for the first time can be what you refer to as “blind” because most times it’s all frills and butterflies, and we’re oblivious to a lot of things especially the”love’s” faults. But eventually, we begin to see clearly and that’s the make it or break it stage. So for me, I wouldn’t say “love is blind” for people who’ve been together for a couple of years.

And now, considering I haven’t seen a “brotherhood of the world bloggers award” in circulation yet, I believe it’s about time we have one. So, I’ld love to nominate some amazing male bloggers whose blogs I believe deserve it.
