Broken wings Can Fly-

Broken wings Can Fly-

You asked the question,
Here’s my reply-
I cant tell you why those men-
Broke you that night;
can’t tell you why your mother,
Drunk herself mad;
can’t take back the childhood,
That destroyed your life;
can’t shut out the voices,
That’s screaming aloud;
Can’t make you believe in-
The body you have;
Can’t force off the blade from-
Your hands every night.

Can’t tell you to get over it-
That’s not right;
But together we’ll get through it-
That’s my pact;
Together we’ll sit through,
The dark till it’s bright;
I’ll bind up the wrists till-
You needn’t do that;
We’ll seek help together-
And wade through setbacks;
Together we’ll make it and
Don’t ask me why?
I love you my girl and
Believe in the lines-
Even broken wings
Can still learn to fly.

Writer’s quote: I am!

Writer’s quote: I am!

Welcome to another writer’s quote/poem Wednesday. The poet I’ll be sharing today is John Clare and in this poem, he takes the reader through a journey of sadness and loneliness.
I cannot remember the first time I came across the poem, but I’d say this- John Clare threw an emotional punch to me with this poem. I felt it and I hope you do too.

I am! by John Clare
I am: yet what I am none cares or knows,
My friends forsake me like a memory lost;
I am the self-consumer of my woes,
They rise and vanish in oblivious host,
Like shades in love and death’s oblivion lost;
And yet I am! and live with shadows tost

Into the nothingness of scorn and noise,
Into the living sea of waking dreams,
Where there is neither sense of life nor joys,
But the vast shipwreck of my life’s esteems;
And e’en the dearest- that I loved the best-
Are strange- nay, rather stranger than the rest.

I long for scenes where man has never trod;
A place where woman never smil’d or wept;
There to abide with my creator, God,
And sleep as I in childhood sweetly slept:
Untroubling and untroubled where I lie;
The grass below- above the vaulted sky.

I am much more-

I am much more-

To all the friends
I pushed aside-
Sent every call,
To voice message .

Somedays my dark
Empowers me,
I blink, I breathe,
That’s all I can be.

To all the friends,
Who stood by me,
From dawn to dusk
And the dark in between.

When sorrow wipes
Aside my joy,
Your thoughts, remind me,
I am much more.

Much more than pain
Much more than tears
Much more than another,
Sad ending.

Because of you-
I am much more.

Day 16: Confidence

Day 16: Confidence

Buy that dress,
They said,
You’d look more confident.

With a 5 inch heels,
To go with,
For, height boosts confidence.

What about a touch,
Of red lipstick?
Ooh, that looks confident.

And ditch that scarf,
Over your hair,
There- you look confident.

If you’ve got friends,
With these ideals,
Depicting confidence.

You’ll need new ones,
To teach you what,
Real confidence means.

It begins with self-
To walk in a room,
and not need validation

Being comfortable,
in the skin that you wear ,
Now that is confidence.

day 16: confidence, day 17: A friend. This poem is in response to December Poetry Challenge, 31 poems in 31 days.

For Those days-

For Those days-

I write for the days-
When nights seem long,
And eyes won’t dry;
When tears fall non stop,
And silence- too loud.

When the sun is ablaze,
But your world remains dark;
When the clouds part ways,
And your Heart breaks apart.

I write for those days-
When loneliness creeps in,
And memories haunt your mind.
When friends are away,
And none present understands.

I hope you find a friend,
A companion in my words;
I pour my heart for those days,
When you need a helping hand,
When your world is falling apart…

She’s my person-

She’s my person-

Here’s to the girl who reminded me- the importance of being fractured and cracked, as the only way light could illuminate my heart; always at hand with her cheery smile.

Here’s to the girl with the huge nerdy glasses who’s face, always embedded in the pages of a book, spared her hours to hear my baseless rants.

Here’s to the girl who curled up beside my trembling body, her silence speaking and endearing more than any words could.

Here’s to the girl with books as her weapon and dreams as her shield, who opened her secluded world to a friend in need.

Here’s to the girl, who schooled me in the saying, broken is another word for “not quite there yet”.

Here’s to the girl, an outsider turned family, through tears and adversity.

Here’s to the girl, my proof- that a woman can uplift another woman too.

Here’s to that girl, my person.

Endings & Beginnings

Endings & Beginnings

I started with poetry,
And ended with prose;
Started with you-
Ended alone.

I started with a diary,
And ended with words-
Filling up pages,
Of fiction genre.

I started with bullet holes,
Now ending with cracks;
Mended by friends,
I didn’t think I’d have.

I started from somewhere,
And ending elsewhere;
What went on in between –
Is another story to tell.

But I started, I started,
Trudged through life’s mud;
Cause endings are much better,
Than where the story begins.

Here’s to Friendship…

Here’s to Friendship…

Here’s to friendship and more-
Trivial fights;
Boyfriend wars.

Here’s to friendship and more-
Pillow fights;
Mini hugs.

Here’s to friendship and more-
Battles won;
Families lost.

Here’s to friendship and more-
Miles apart;
Heart intact.

Here’s to friendship and more-
Secret pacts;
Love gone wrong.

Here’s to friendship and more-
Always there;
Sun or storm.

Here’s to friendship and more-
Greatest gift;
Love of Loves.

Love beyond Infinity

Love beyond Infinity

Words couldn’t describe,
What you mean to me-
But words all I’ve got,
As a writer struggling within;
In a world full of blunder,
Unnecessary burden;
Clear out of a blue sky-
You rocked me through it.

A little smile-
A little hi-
I wouldn’t reply,
But still you tried.

And when i cried,
You’d ask me why;
I wouldn’t reply,
But it melted my heart

There’s infinity,
And there’s you and me;
But even infinity,
Cant amount what you mean to me.

Happy Birthday Sabeeha… I Love you beyond infinty
