It seems I can’t get enough of Paulo Coelho these days, his quotes I mean. The above quote is from a book I read recently “The Alchemist” written by Paulo Coelho. It is about a boy on a journey towards finding his destiny. In that journey, he encounters various people and circumstances which one way or the other teach him life lessons that would help him towards his destiny. Yeah, there is a lot of talk about destiny in the book. The only problem I had with the book was in deciding which of the many wonderful and philosophical quotes I was going to pick for writer’s quote Wednesday.
I honestly think it is about time fear takes a backseat. We don’t realise how powerful fear is, but it is one of the few emotions whose ropes aren’t easy to let go. Fear holds us back and ties us down, preventing us from moving forward and achieving the greatness we were born to achieve. “Fear” will always be there whether we like it or not, so it is up to is to decide if fear is worth us leaving an ordinary life while we have the potential to be extraordinary. It is not easy and it is not going to be easy, but it’s like the saying goes- “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. And so, it is time for fear to take a step backwards and for our dreams to take the front seat.
