Today, my world
Begins anew,
My thoughts, are now
decipherable.
I gain, a break
From you today,
And all, that you have
Put me through.
Today, I rest
Your memories,
Your name erased-
I take up “Miss”.
You displayed love,
Through fear and fists,
Today, I embrace-
New beginnings.
Oh I hope that’s fictional! xo

Oh yes it is Deb for me, but sadly, it isn’t for so many.

Thank you Joy! After the poem “close to home” I thought, I’d write one with a lot more light. 🙂

A poignant piece…short but pregnant with a sad story.
Choosing freedom after enduring domestic violence is a brave decision, full of self-love.
