On Grief-

On Grief-

I would tell you loss gets easy,
But I’m sure you’ve felt that pain,
An aching dull sensation,
In the middle of your chest;
Hands tremble uncontrollably,
With the phone gripped to your ear;
Sorry we couldn’t save her,
Is the last statement you hear.

The world spins all around you,
But the truth stares in your face;
A soul you loved, a part of you,
Gone from this universe;
To tell you loss gets easy then,
Wouldn’t take away your pain;
So weep my love- unburden
Grieve if it keeps you sane.

Welcome to another edition of my bi-weekly interview series. I’m excited to share with you a talented and beautiful poet, writer, and interviewee — my friend of many years on WordPress — blogger Ameena K.G. The way her poems flow and the lessons they teach, often amaze me. You can visit Ameena’s blog here: Randoms by a Random.

Flash Fiction: cool or creepy?

Flash Fiction: cool or creepy?

image

Every other Saturday, Jianna and Rosy took a break from their busy school schedules and visited the neighbourhood park, playing their favourite pass-time, “cool or creepy”.

Rosy claimed, she had a gift of knowing people. She’d once read in a book that identical twins were born with supernatural gifts and had been obsessed with the idea ever since, firmly believing hers to be the gift to Judge a person at first sight. Jianna thought it to be nothing but a house wives tale, still, she indulged her twin sister

“So, what do you think about that guy there with the blue on blue?” Jianna asked
“Him? Definitely creepy”, Rosy replied casually.
Jianna took a good long look at the man and concluded, Rosy was just a weird person.

At night, in the comfort of her dormitory, Jianna turned on the radio to hear an alert about a man who had kidnapped a girl from the park. The only thing to identify him, he wore a blue shirt with a blue cap.

I chase the things,
I cannot have,
I want the things,
Out of my grasp….
For all my life, i’ve been this way.

I hide my truth,
Behind a smile,
I write to live,
Bleeding inside,
For all my life, i’ve been this way.

I love- beyond,
Limits and bounds,
I give my all,
Emptying out,
For all my life, i’ve been this way.

For all my life,
I’ve lived not thrived,
Watered my loves,
And wilted out,
I was this way, for all my life
It’s time to change, for the life I can have…

It’s been a while-

It’s been a while-

image

It’s been a while,
I wrote about you,
Not for lack of-
Inspiration,
Right wordings,
Or motivation.

It’s been a while,
I dreamt about you,
Nights are long
And calm and peaceful,
Things i’ve missed, haunted-
By your dreams.

It’s been a while
I thought about you,
Time, they say
Heal wounds and memories
Fade away,
Though it’s been a struggle.

It’s been a while,
This much I can tell you,
The cuts you made
Are merely scars now,
And I wear them- around me
Like an armour.

It’s been only a while…
But I’m making it through.

P.S this is not a love/ breakup poem. Go figure 😉😉

Without him-

Without him-

image

With him,
Life held meaning
With him,
Each day was a memory in the making
Without,
Life seems dreary;
Despite,
I’ve got to sail through the storms.

With him,
Joy was abound
With him,
Home was a person not place
Without,
Home’s just four walled;
Despite,
I’ve got to put on a strong face.

With him,
I was complete
Without,
There’s a bullet hole in my heart
Despite,
I’ve got to keep living;
With him,
I learnt dark will give way to light
Always… Eventually.

Healing-

Healing-

She wanted to know,
Why I hid during day;
Where my nightmares took me,
In the solace of dusk;
If the golden rays streaming,
When the morning sun comes;
Puts a damp in the void,
She thought was my world.

She wanted to know,
Of the cracks in my building;
The voices I heard when,
Silence- I befriended;
She wanted to know,
Of the life I am seeking;
The universe I envision,
In my kaleidoscope dreams.

She wanted to know,
Of the holes in my heart,
The blackout in my chapters,
The fairytales, I write;
She wanted to know,
In the hopes she could heal,
But every second with her-
Is all the healing I need.

The saying”everybody needs inspiration” rightly applies to this Random, my muse has gone awol and I haven’t been able to write anything meaningful. I signed up for October Poetry Writing month but their prompts  haven’t titled my writing bone yet. Any tips?
