Princess, that’s what they called her. It didn’t take more than a glance to figure out how the name came about. She walked with the elegance of a Victoria fashion model; her snow-white hair accentuated the pale tone of her skin. One could refer to her as delicate.
Dawn on the other hand, was of a caramel brown skin tone in contrast to her sister’s. Her hair was as dark as Princess’s was white. It took a second glance to notice the hazel green eyes hidden underneath long lashes. And more than a few glances to notice Dawn when Princess was in the view- a crime, of which I was guilty.
The fair was over; Princess and Dawn headed for their car when a group of children surrounded them. I was stunned to see both sisters act in the same kindly manner, grinning from cheek to cheek, gently ruffling the kids’ hair. It made me wonder if I was quick to judge. What if Dawn actually enjoyed being in the shadows…

Perhaps, she did like being in the shadows, but maybe she just didn’t care that much and would shine when certain opportunities were present…like when all the children surrounded them. I say this because I can sort of relate to this story….my sister was the outgoing one and I did not push myself to be, but could when certain things happened. Good story, I enjoyed it.

That was just I was trying to display. Some people just don’t care for the spotlight and are happy just the same. I actually know a few. Thank you βΊ

It was neat for you to make peacocks as if they were actual sisters. Also, intriguing is the fact that the sister with the darker hair likes “being in the shadows.” Perhaps, we all have different roles in life and have different personality. I would sat the the one sister is introspective while the other is an extrovert. Yet, the love each other despite their differences. Good story!

Thank you Mandi. It’s true, I’d like to believe we all have different roles too. I know a few people who do not care for the spotlight and are quite happy in the background.

Very nice take on the prompt. I have written a quite few stories about siblings and their multi-faceted relations. With many cousins around I observed a lot in this department.
