Writer’s Quote: Dr. Seuss (2)

Writer’s Quote: Dr. Seuss (2)

We are all motivated and inspired via different means; introverts are moved by things involving “deep philosophical thoughts”, extroverts would rather “action”, writers’ range from nature to heartbreak; but yet, sometimes intensity isn’t what gets us going. The cords that can’t be stroked by intensity could be hit through humor and rhyme- hence the quote.

You have brains in your head
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself any-
Direction you choose.
You’re on your own.
And you know what you know.
And you’re the one who will
Decide where to go.

We’ve got the brains, we’ve got the feet, we’ve got the mind and the ability to choose; it would seem that the world is our oyster but still, something keeps holding us back. It’s not the same for everyone. The cuffs restraining me are different from the ropes holding you, but if there is one thing we have in common, it’s this- we have the power in us, the ability to unlock the chain, untie the ropes, choose our destination and achieve our goals.

If we are going to be honest with ourselves, we can identify those ropes. It’s all a matter of cutting them loose. It doesn’t have to come all off at once. Just as we write one alphabet, one word, one sentence at a time, so also, slowly but surely we can get those ropes out, one knot at a time.

May we have the courage to figure out those destinations, place our feet in our shoes, ignite our minds and steer towards the direction we’ve always wanted to go.

And This is my submission to Writer’s Quote Wednesday hosted by Silver Threading. Don’t forget to pop by at the link I included to say hello to her and maybe, just maybe, get motivated to submit your quote for this event. The more the merrier 🙂
