A quote, A day (1): Demi Lovato

I don’t think I’m fixed.
People think that you’re like-
a car in a body shop;
you go in, they fix you and you’re out,
and you work like you’re brand new.
It doesn’t work like that,
you know?
It takes constant fixing.
          -Demi Lovato.

This is one of those quotes that resonated with me the first time I read it. I can go so far to say- this quote means a lot to me. Isn’t this the reality? How many times have we gone through struggles in life and hear people tell us to “just get over it”.  How many times have we had relatives, loved ones, family members pass away and we meet people who expect us to be “fine” after a couple of days or weeks; and sometimes, we fall to the crime of being the expectants.

It’s like, we believe that once the bandage’s been pulled out, that’s it- the pain is all gone and everything’s alright again. The truth is, that’s not the way life works. It takes time and constant fixing. So, the bandage is gone now and the ulcer is probably healed, but the scar- that scar is still going to remain. And whenever we rub the formerly smooth skin, we feel the scar and the memories will come gushing out. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt like it did the first time, but the hurt is still there. It’s going to take time. It’s going to take constant reminders that everything’s going to be okay before it really becomes “okay”. We don’t get fixed in one day, nah… We are not some car?! It takes constant fixing.
