Tedx: is coming to town!

Tedx: is coming to town!

Hey guys, so I sort of really need your help. Tedx organization, which I’m sure most of you have come across; if you haven’t, it is an organization which provides a platform for individuals to share their ideas and stories for the benefit of others. Well, Tedx is coming to my university this August!

Yup, the form is out and in the open for the students. Here’s the problem, the topic is “Vision” and I am at a loss as to what “story/idea” I should talk about. At first, I thought about “Self esteem” because I feel like it’s basically the backbone to everything. We need self-esteem to build the courage, in order to take our visions places. I wanted to talk about building each other’s esteem and the importance of family in regards to it.

But now, I would love to know what other topics you feel I could talk about which is under the spectrum of “Vision”. Especially for those of my followers who have been reading my posts for a while now, what other topics do you think fit perfectly with me and vision. I would really appreciate your feedback.

  1. I am currently reading a novel about a young woman quest to stay strong with the sudden news of her fiance paralyzed, she encounters blind people and others with different forms of disabilities which helps her see the picture of changing the planned she once dreamed of. Sorry but that is I can come up since I am so into this story.

    1. Awww, thank you Noir, I appreciate it. And you know, I get it! Our visions don’t always play out the way we want them to be, life happens, and instead of giving up, we could dream up a more beautiful story. Thank you, this really helps. 🙂

  2. I’ve never heard of TedX, but when I hear of Vision I think about something one of my cousins said at another cousins funeral (it’s not morbid). My cousin had heart and lung problems and she was legally blind due to a botched surgery when she was a baby. My cousin stood up and said that “for someone with limited sight, she could see things that no one else could see.” My cousin was extremely intuitive about people and ideas. She didn’t need to have vision to see what was right in front of her. She only had to feel it.

I don’t know if this is appropriate for you but my suggestion (take it or leave it) is to think about vision differently than you think anyone else will think of it. Look up the definitions on a site and see how you can twist it into a different light.

    My 2 cents. Good Luck!

    1. I am so glad I posed the question here, rather than going headlong into making a decision. You gave me the idea of what I should have done in the first place- “understand what vision means”. After that, I’m sure I’ld be able to fit it in a way only I could do. Thank you so much for this.

  3. Vision, to me, is to see the potential in something/someone.
Your vision may be of a culture that offers equal opportunities for men and women. How could you contribute to reaching that state?
Your vision could be to develop your Blog to become a resource for people in specific circumstances where problem sharing could produce solutions.
If you consider the negatives in your cultural upbringing (we all have them), perhaps your vision could be to eliminate one or two of them? Just some thoughts. All the best with your final decision. 🙂

    1. Oh wow, I love that last suggestion, it’s struck a chord with me. I never thought about combining my vision with the negatives of culture and that actually one of the things I am passionate about. Posing this question was a great idea, all that’s left is for me to wrote it all out, read about vision and hopefully, make a good decision. Thank you very much!

  4. My 2 cents:
I think you can delve deeper than self-esteem. Having a vision is, like another user stated, potential. I think contemplating the evolution in human thinking in order to ensure our survival would be an interesting topic. The way we view the world, economically, environmentally, socio-politically etc, are all outdated and the only way those ways will change is through the younger generations. The characteristics you need to be “heard” so to speak could include self-esteem, but the focus would be detailing the traditional views of specific topics and offering steps for much needed improvement. Good luck!

    1. I agree too, self esteem is just scratching the surface I believe now. Yes, just noting the problem isn’t enough, but adding steps for improvement would be a bonus, just like you said. Thank you so much for the help. I do appreciate and will take all the tips into consideration.

  5. Vision is drive and potential. It is having set a goal towards something sometimes intangible and going for it. Vision guides us on our journey in life. You could talk about your vision as a writer and what you would like to accomplish. You could talk about your vision as an individual, the way you see the world and change you find necessary in it. You could talk about visionaries. People who have inspired you and pushed you to do better. I love Tedx Ameena I watch the movies often and went to a conference once where I live. It is an amazing experience.

    1. Thank you so much Mandi, this has helped me greatly. I love Tedx too, there was a time I binge watched it on YouTube tho, this will be my first time of seeing it love and I am hoping to be chosen to be a speaker. You’ve given me a whole new perspective to “vision” and I am really inclined towards what you mentioned about- speaking about my vision as an individual. Thank you very much. 🙂

  6. To me vision is almost omnipotent. As you work toward fulfilling your vision, it changes and morphs to fit where you are in your journey in obtaining it. Although the vision itself may relatively be the same, your vision of getting to it changes depending where you are in your journey.

  7. I felt so happy when I read that you are going to talk on Tedx!! That’s so cool! 😀 I’m sorry I’m not really much of a help when it comes to the topic of what you can talk about, but I am sure you already have plenty of ideas to choose from 😉 I so happy for you sweetie! 🙂 Good luck and have fun! ❤
