It seems I can’t get enough of Paulo Coelho these days, his quotes I mean. The above quote is from a book I read recently “The Alchemist” written by Paulo Coelho. It is about a boy on a journey towards finding his destiny. In that journey, he encounters various people and circumstances which one way or the other teach him life lessons that would help him towards his destiny. Yeah, there is a lot of talk about destiny in the book. The only problem I had with the book was in deciding which of the many wonderful and philosophical quotes I was going to pick for writer’s quote Wednesday.
I honestly think it is about time fear takes a backseat. We don’t realise how powerful fear is, but it is one of the few emotions whose ropes aren’t easy to let go. Fear holds us back and ties us down, preventing us from moving forward and achieving the greatness we were born to achieve. “Fear” will always be there whether we like it or not, so it is up to is to decide if fear is worth us leaving an ordinary life while we have the potential to be extraordinary. It is not easy and it is not going to be easy, but it’s like the saying goes- “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. And so, it is time for fear to take a step backwards and for our dreams to take the front seat.
This is my response to SilverThreading’s event- writer’s quote Wednesday. Thanks for hanging out with me this week. You are welcome to join in and participate just click on the link above.
Loved Paulo Coelho too… his quotes are inspiring. Reading Alchemist currently – ever so slowly as if never want the Shepherd’s journey to end.
Agreed, fear we must learn to overcome.

Really inspiring. Oh wow, you would enjoy the book. I wished I had read it slower because I want (and would) read it again just to grasp it better

This is a fabulous quote and your commentary is spot on! I love how you talk about fear. We all have them and we all have to cope with those feelings. This is just what I needed today! ❤

Thank you very much 😊. I’m glad you like it. Fear really is a spoil sport. But the good things is, it can be overcomed.

I absolutely love the quotes in this book. I read it a long time ago and I think in the beginning there is this long introduction by Paulo Coelho about ‘following our legend.’ It’s so good and it made me ponder on it really hard for a while. I’ve even hung it on my bedroom wall!
His words really make you think twice.

There are indeed a lot of amazing quotes in the book, picking one was a struggle for me 😄. Awww, the book must have really clicked with you. I honestly can’t wait to find time and read it again because I feel like reading for the 2nd time would unravel more layers for me. 🙂

Alchemist is on my reading list for such a long time, I just [cannot think of an excuse that would make sense]. You are right, fear is hindering and should take a backseat. I heard Sherri Shepherd say once “don’t let fear rule your life, do it scared.” Words, I carry with me and try to use.

Paulo Coelho writes amazing books, especially his quotes have great meaning and significance.
I like reading contemporary authors. Dickens, Wells, Stevenson – I just love their books in school. But lately I have read fantasy (LOTR, Harry potter series), Indian fiction, self-help and spiritual books to much of my liking.

Yeah, i also got to know paulo through his quotes. Wow, you read a wide range of books Amrit, tho I don’t see romance ;). Haha, i dont read those actually.

Yeah, rightly observed. Books in the romance genre are quite overrated. In India, people try romance in everything – be it movies, songs, serials, novels etc. etc., maybe that’s why i don’t like it. 😛

Hahaha, i can attest to that 😄. But you know, Indian movies are actually the only ones whose romance i do like. I’ld rather watch a bollywood romance tjan a hollywood’s.

Fear is the greatest enemy of mind ;). And its so hard to overcome, but baby steps and we’ll get there. When i first downloaded the book, i didnt bargain for such wisdom in it. It was beyond my expectation.

Awesome quote and love what you wrote about it. I am going to have to look up that book now and see if I can get it on my Kindle! Yes, Fear needs to take a backseat, it is NOT welcome here!

Haha, you should 😄. And the good thing about it is, it doesn’t have a lot of pages so less time for reading. Fear DEFINITELY is Not welcome , uh-uh. 😀

As someone who to often is prey to their fears and anxieties, I wholeheartedly agree with what you have to say on the matter: fear needs to take a backseat!
With me, I often make fear out to be more powerful than it is, and I don’t realise that I am equally culpable for my immobility (be it creative or otherwise) as fear because I don’t take advantage of natural human resilience!
